- I have been with the Amiga since my 64 got traded in for an A500. I have
- 'taken advantage' of what the Amiga has had for all these years, but it's
- time for all of us to change! We are spoiled rotten by all the PD/Shareware
- programmers that have allowed us to do 'for free' what other platform users
- have always 'paid' for. We can't walk into any computer outlet and buy
- software from the shelf, because who has needed to. Just log into the
- nearest bbs, the nearest online service, and even Aminet and get everything
- you could ever dream of having 'for free'.
-
- I can do with my 3000 and PD/Shareware almost anything that any other
- platform user can do with his computer and 'commercial' software. It's time
- to use PD/Shareware as a 'new' programmers medium ONLY and when it's gets
- the bugs ironed out, shrink wrap it, and SELL it like 'real' commercial
- software.
-
- The second problem we have stems from the above. We think EVERYTHING should
- be free or inexpensive. How much does NT cost? And we gripe about a
- 'rom/software' upgrade?
-
- Third, we have this attitude that Amiga Technologies (and it was there
- during the C= era) should make 'backwards compatibility' a major point of
- all upgrades. Much as I hate to say it, this is killing us faster than
- anything else. Some is ok!
-
- How many programmers still support the XT, the 286? The 386? Yet, the 68000-680
- 10
- is still supported like that HAS to be. Time to get a grip on reality here!
